Does this solution apply to private networks? I learned first hand how dangerous it can be when I brought down our datacenter with an accidental BGP announcement.
You can do this. I know a few large well know networks which have suffered from internal BGP hijacks within their data centers from different business units stepping on each other. You can either try to implement via strict route policies or try to do RPKI.
