Back when touchscreens started to become popular i remember some talks about a 'tactile overlay' to touchscreens, essentially a grid of tiny bumps (pixels, though at a much lower resolution) that would 'pump up' and 'flatten' just enough to provide a tactile feel to the otherwise glassy screens.

What happened to that?
