Disclaimer: I don't actually mean the following seriously. But one almost wonders if you could "play" a vinyl record that came with all the accessories of a vinyl record like sleeve/album art/etc., but the actual audio was coming from a "lip-synced" digital copy.

That's been done as a tool for DJs.[1] The vinyl record just has a time code. That feeds into a unit that has the song in a buffer. The time code is used to address the audio data in the buffer.
