Well there's the standby nodes with automated failover, and the fact that maintenance and security are fully handled. For a lot of people that's well worth the extra $10 a month. Plus setting up daily backups is one thing, but verifying that it is done correctly and that they are easy to restore is almost always skipped "until it's needed", which of course is too late.
