> Up to 16GB of LPDDR3 memory at 2133MHz

"Up to 16GB" in 2019 means it's not upgradable, and not worth buying, because developers like hardware that they can upgrade in 2-5 years if needed.

Absolutely. My more than 7 year old X220 now has 12GB RAM and would support up to 16GB afaik. Moreover it has a non-glossy screen, and a replaceable battery.

Anyone know why this is the case? Using a limited motherboard or something? 16gb should be standard these days for a developer laptop... with expansion to 32gb.

Ultraportable limits are generally courtesy of the Intel chipset.

This would be a way for amd to make headway into the laptop market, if they made it easy to get 32+ gb.

Indeed. Not supporting 32GB is a disgrace for both Dell (“developer edition” LOL) and Apple. The main reason I’m skipping laptop upgrades this year...

For developers it should be 32 out of box, plus upgrade to 64... And they have already models with 32Gb in 2017th

Agreed, and it's unfortunately still soldered. Talk about planned obsolescence...
