Stick a USB port in the arm of each seat and sell an adapter kit for common laptops and phones on-board. Although i'm not sure a USB port will supply enough current for a laptop.

It won't. The solution is to force everyone to use the 'car' (or cigarette lighter) variant of their chargers.
