Side note: I wish the "killer app" for deepfakes hadn't been porn. The technology was impressive, but having such a scuzzy popular usecase made sharing it with others kind of fraught.
Sexual gratification is one of our most primal urges. Makes sense that it would be a driving factor in this, despite the strong taboo in some cultures.
