Bringing back Skype emojis to my fingertips (pi2squared.blogspot.com)

This is one of the silly small features of macOS that I really miss on Windows and Linux. Glad that the author had the same problem but did something about it :)

The emoji keyboard on Windows is one of my favorite improvements. Windows key + : (semicolon) or win +.(period) then start typing the name of the emoji you want.

I initially dismissed it as a gimmick but now use it often when writing emails (colored check? Behind schedule? )

Of course, adding the emojis to this post doesn't work as HN strips them.

Sadly limited to US English - other English inputs don’t have it.

My keyboard is set to Turkish Q and I can confirm Win+. opens up the emoji panel, maybe the key combination is somewhat different? I don't think they would add it to other languages but skip other English'es

I might have misled you with my initial post - it's not the keyboard or IME that it's restricted to, it's the display language.

en_US only, not en_AU, en_UK etc.

There's a registry key you can change to enable it in other locales, I can't remember it nor find it again though.

I am still missing the (devil) equivalent in the emoji world. Any suggestion?

Anything wrong with ?

Edit: seems HN filters out emojis. There is indeed a devil emoji, however.

Bring back p2p, native, tiny, fast, working skype.

I'm working on a native client for Skype, Slack and others. It's only ~100 KB(!) and can handle tens of thousands of messages without any lag.

It will be out of alpha this month.

Holy crap this is the most amazing thing ever. How can I help? Donate on Patreon?

There's a link to their Patreon at the bottom of the page.

Yeah, and at the top! I saw it after commenting. Amazing project, totally worth supporting. Please let's get off separate memory-hogging Electron apps for every god damn IM service.

I've heard this from you before: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=16353591

You should instead help with Pidgin 3.
