At what point does California stop and realize that they are going to eventually tax themselves out of business?

The people of California are screaming that the pace of economic growth here is far too high. Rolling it back, destroying jobs, and sending the migrant gentrifiers back home is a logical and popular (if insane) idea over here. People have figured out that whatever positive effects growth and hiring may have are dwarfed by by the effects of soaring real estate demand.

Probably after they stop being the 6th largest global economy; the ~11th largest per-capita GDP global economy (not counting other US states); the largest GDP in the union; the 8th largest per-capita GDP in the union;

California is doing fine under its high tax approach to government.

Nowhere near 'doing fine'. Govt ready to go bankrupt under an unsupportable and unfunded pension obligation.

which totally explains news article after article about people and business fleeing california for states with less of a tax burden.

confirmation bias.

What is the meaning of the map’s colors? “unimpeachable IRS data mapped by state and metropolitan area” … Unimpeachable because there is no legend and it is not clear what exactly is mapped? (I’m on mobile.)

Around the same time people stop buying luxury goods when they realize they can get the same functionality from an item at Target for a fraction of the price.

Supply and demand. California is in a position to capitalize on their assets and you're telling them that's a bad move?

Probably never. People that like California and want to live there, will live there. People that don't like it, or are unwilling to pay CA taxes will leave. The middle class can't escape anyway.

Did these tax reform laws get rid of the US global taxation of individuals as well?
