As usual? Apple has done a lot of weird stuff when it comes to claiming to have invented things. Need I remind you that the CUPS source code and documentation says (c) 1997 Apple? True they bought the copyright, they bought it 10 years later and erased all evidence that it ever existed outside of Apple...

Second I wasn't claiming Apple made any claims on inventing layout, it was more that the third party Apple community acts like it did. Kind of like how they act like Apple invented threads and concurrent queues with GCD. I heard a prominent Apple fan claim that Apple invented localization to RTL languages, when the reality is this was a topic they neglected for a very long time while others were doing it. I hear and read this kind of crap all the time. My point is that Apple fans live in a bubble and tend to credit Apple for things that others have done for decades.
