What do you do when you actually need to type the string "jk"? Type "j", then wait for sometime and then type "k"?

it waits `timeoutlen` before accepting the next character as literal instead of as part of the mapped sequence. see `:help timeoutlen`

yes, however it is
very
rare I ever need to type that in an editing environment. I am usually not cracking jokes in my code :)
