If Oracle would do something very stupid, the facts are these:
IBM has a Java VM with - likely - iron clad licensing around it A patent portfolio regarding virtual machines that (at least uses to) be quite deep, and a database engine partially competing in the same market as Oracle.
Almost every large enterprise runs Java somewhere.
End result might be that Oracle gives away quite a bit of business to IBM while simultaneously angering the IT departments of just about substantial company on the planet, not a great strategy.
