My wife an I, when deciding name for our son, immediately skipped all names with "ä", which is quite common in Finnish names.


Yea, I did the same thing. Name must contain only ASCII characters and must be easily pronounceable in English where two of my requirements when naming my daughter.


As a native speaker of English from the US, my goal is to do the opposite :)


Why? Believe me, it is not fun if your name is incompatible with computer systems.


your kids will hate you. or get a name change. or both!
