Unfortunately there is no GNU on iOS or Android. Every open a terminal on an Android phone and wonder why things just don't feel like the GNU/Linux systems you're used to? It's because it uses things like busybox instead of the GNU coreutils.



Not to mention what happens if you decide you would like to start writing a little program (as one does on a real Unix system) and realize that you are in a sandbox designed to prevent you from doing that unless you use all the official SDK stuff through Dalvik, which has a completely different flavor and set of capabilities.

Sure, I have a very awesome computer that cost hundreds of dollars but I can't really use it because... somebody said so?

Their package selection is small compared to debian, but still quite nice.


being able to install it doesn't make it part of android.
