What are they trying to fix? Apple is deleting content that is not associated with content in iTunes. They think it an accurate delete but are 100% wrong and have no DR or backup plan for this.... It would be simple enough for them to use a shazzam like algorithm to verify what they are deleting matches what is in iTunes and if not leave it.

I might be misunderstanding what you are stating though?
