Best windows emulator: Altirra

Best cross platform emulators: Atari800 and Atari++

Or if you have an FPGA board (MIST,MCC216 etc) then you can try my core available at http://www.scrameta.net

Or you could buy a real 800XL!

I'd recommend Altirra even if you're on Linux, it works well through WINE.
