There is, however, some weird extension thing that allows you to put SD cards into, but it's limited in what it can save and what apps can save to it.

Yes, I worked at a company that developed that for SanDisk. It was pretty nice but requires that extension you mention. I was hoping SanDisk would develop a cover that included the extension and an SD card slot after the project ended.
