I've been holding on to my S4 mini for years now. Samsung keeps growing the size of the phones in their Mini line which is ridiculous. If you keep increasing the size of the phone it stops being "mini" at some point and becomes just an expensive, underpowered, flagship lookalike.
Same here. The S4 mini is also easily rootable and compatible with a wide range of custom ROMs. I'm running Cyanogenmod 12 on mine, and planning to upgrade to Cyanogenmod 13 now that it has been marked as stable.
