The difference is in scale.

Full duplex connections are powerful and heavyweight. When there's one per page visitor, it can be overwhelming for your servers.

Cars are fine on the highway. But not inside a house.




This is a very nice analogy! I might borrow that in the future. :-)

It got me thinking: it's quite easy to come up with effective car/garage/road analogies.


Horses aren't great in houses either.

(Unfortunately, this is still a perfect analogy for HTTP.)
