Quite a bit. You'd have to do a subject access request to get closer to the truth.

> I couldn’t go through with it for reasons I’m embarrassed to admit

Quitting Facebook may not a choice without severe consequences. I'm lucky enough to be able to stay away from Facebook, but I know everyone isn't in the same position. It's important to acknowledge that Facebook is inextricably intertwined with many peoples professional and social lives.

Your workplace may require you to Workplace by Facebook for collaboration. The parents group at your childs school may only communicate via Facebook. Perhaps the bachelors party of a dear friend may be planned via Facebook.

Embarrassment is the last thing you should feel for being trapped by this tyrant.

> Quitting Facebook may not a choice without severe consequences

You know you're living in a time of peace when not having Facebook is considered to have severe consequences.

Or it's indicative of the battlefields of the (very near) future...

Or both.

It's important to acknowledge that Facebook is inextricably intertwined with many peoples professional and social lives

This is true but also it wasn’t that long ago that going out for a smoke break was vital for people’s professional and social lives

Get an RSS reader. http://idlewords.com/index.xml works terrific!

These weren't posted yesterday, just the RSS feed for the blog had been throwing errors for a while, and seems like Maciej has fixed the bug recently.

Oh, I see. I recognized some of them from before and figured they had just been updated.

Blogrolls worked quite well for me.

Not as extensive, but certainly more user friendly option:

This post doesn't mention the Webrecorder Player[1], which is a GUI app that displays WARC files. It's probably the easiest way to view Web ARChives.

For those willing to set up a docker container, check out Warcworker[2].

I have dietary restrictions against Electron apps which is why I didn't mention Webrecorder player. Besides, last time I suggested anything touching node.js to LWN readers, the answer was a clear "nope" so I tend to thread carefully there as well. ;)

They link to the webrecorder repositories in the second paragraph though, including https://github.com/webrecorder/pywb

Apple isn't really embracing APFS for external drives as I see it. Time Machine backups would be one of the main uses for external drives, but…

> Time Machine can’t back up to an APFS-formatted disk. If you select a back up disk formatted as APFS, Time Machine offers to reformat it as HFS+.[1]

This has more to do with the implementation details of TimeMachine which relies on features of HFS+ not available in APFS. It's not Apple telling you not to use APFS on external drives.
