This essai reminds me of someone a few years back telling me that Artists and Startups where very similar.
- "What ?" I replied confused.
- "Yes ! We work for nothing, crafting a unique skills and hoping to find Product Market Fit. Of either an original Software or an special Sculpture.
The economic is for both an economic of big incertinity.
Galleries bet on a few Artists among many just like YCombinator bets on a few startups every years hoping for the best.
lukehollis, it's true 3D gales are so long-and-didfucult to build.

Mytoo is called free-visit
thierry.milard@gmail.com
I am 56 yo.
Well, we know how people are when technical people like me get more mature.
They could be afraid the guy might not be 'Up to date'...
My personnal project I do on WE ( https://free-visit.net ) always gets me a nice technical interview and the consulting job.

Thank you - I am in my early fifties and have “that book” still not written and “those oss projects” sitting unloved. That “up to date” comment rings true and is just the right motivation to get things sorted
Plus I now want to make a virtual tour of some of my favourite places :-)
Reminds me a little of Twain: “When I was a boy of 14, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be 21, I was astonished at how much the old man had learned in seven years.”
Nice. But transition between 360-Photos is important in this Area.
I have also developped a personnal solution to do "Immersive visits".
The visual quality is not as good as your exemple(Nefertity) but I feel immersion is very good.
