I am extremely surprised about this article, to the point that I am starting to doubt about its credibility.

I own a BMW i4 since 2022, exactly the same model and year as the author claims he is suffering those issues on. In addition, since 2022, I have owned other 3 BMWs with the same features as that i4 (EV / PHEVs): profiles, digital key, rear view camera, lights, etc.

It would be naive to claim that as I have not suffered the same issue as the article writer, that issue is non-existing. However the author is claiming so many issues at the same time, that I have never ever experienced that I start to doubt the truth of the article:

* Unable to unlock the car via digital key --> Never experienced this in 3 years and none of my 4 BMWs. On 3 different iPHones I've owned. Digital key works beautifully to the point I have not used the keyfob in years.

* Profile issues --> Never had any issue with guest profile, nor with my wife profiles. However by design, phone pairing is shared in a vehicle with all the stored profiles. Makes sense to me, so when I drive also my wifes phone is paired with the car in case she joins.

* Camera issues --> No issues whatsoever, however it's true that it could improve in low-light conditions (I have surround view camera setup), and it actually has improved in the following generation of cars (SP21).

* Walk home lights --> Never experienced this issue in more than 3 years and my 4 BMWs owned during this period. I love those lights, including the puddle lights. And they light on the moment I'm around 5m or further from the car. 100% of the time.

* OTA --> Also never had an issue, except 2024 updates being delayed for the i4 compared to other models. But the i4 is getting the 2025 updates just on time.

Because people are choosing deliberately to get pleasure to eat unhealthy stuff instead of being healthy. And that’s a reasonable thing to do. Immediate pleasure trumps future hypothetical gains.

And it’s exactly the same situation with financial education, debt, university degrees, or in general any long term endeavors that requires the sacrifice of the immediate pleasure.

Of course, we still have a non trivial percentage of people that suffer from eating disorders, and use food as a way to emotionally regulate themselves because that’s what they learned as children (child is unhappy, give him a candy…).

None of which addresses the point. Combating all of those urges and changing your habits via willpower is still far more difficult than a weekly injection that provides huge help in combating said urges.

Changing habits is easy. Still people decide against it because they enjoy those habits more than the result of changing them.

Unless we talk about eating disorders.

What if it's actually another phone's vibration laying next to each other? Me and my wife leave our phones together when going to sleep.

not only that but my android phone sleeps together with my android reading tablet

Awww that's cute. Did they produce little baby Android devices?

I’m curious, being a county does that also imply that a Count of LA exists? And the same for each county in the USA?

The counties are administrative and there are bureaucrats who lead the county, but they are not titled, noble Counts and Countesses.

In Sweden, we also have administrative regions translated as counties, which are lead by someone I'd directly translate as "county chief" (as in "chief over this tribe") but they're anonymous bureaucrats a normal person wouldn't know about. (The common translation is the less exciting "governor".)

Not even true for the UK, which does have geographic peerages but they're not really linked to the county boundaries any more.

For some reason, the UK doesn't issue the title of "count", only "viscount". "Marquis" is linked etymologically to "marches", an old type of land allocation boundaries, but again not in practice.

The UK version of "count" is "earl".

No. To quote Hank Hill, we fought an entire war with England over that.

In general, phone coverage in Germany is subpar, no matter what provider you choose. The country has too many anti-5G people with too much power to stop or delay projects.

Germany's comparatively bad 5G coverage is an infrastructure problem and has ~nothing to do with anti-5G sentiments.

Just look at the parallels in wired broadband, which are equally lacking behind some European peers.

What does 5G have to do with coverage? LTE 800mhz can give you the same coverage as 5G 700mhz

> What does 5G have to do with coverage? LTE 800mhz can give you the same coverage as 5G 700mhz

Could. But not in Germany.

It's not about coverage, it's about conspiracy theories.

Different people react differently to flu and colds.

I usually don’t get any colds at all, but I catch the flu once a year and need to be in bed at least for a week. So I started vaccinating since a couple of years and have avoided it so far.

My wife on the other hand catches every cold possible but her flu is gone in a couple of days.

Said that, my doctor has always strongly advised against doing any sport during flu or immediately after due to risks of heart infection. That’s something I’m going to follow, I’m not a sports professional and I have no need to risk my hearts health.

Historically other currencies have depreciated much more than the Euro. The LEV depreciated around 99% before being pegged to the Euro.

Well, the Lev was pegged to the DM first, which was a way stronger currency.

The euro has depreciated more (in both real purchasing power and against other currencies) than the Deutsche Mark.

The DM was seen as one of the strongest and most stable post-WWII currencies, while the euro has struggled with crises and inflation.

Bulgaria pegging to the DM in 1997 meant anchoring to a much harder currency than what the euro has become.

> Bulgaria pegging to the DM in 1997 meant anchoring to a much harder currency than what the euro has become.

Look, it seems you have beef with Bulgaria adopting the euro based on your other comments, but matter of fact is that many people remember the hyperinflation and the Videnov winter — especially older people that were queuing for bread with all of their lifetime savings disappearing overnight. Hence, the board staying almost 30 years. What’s scary for many is that the board in its current form is just a law that can be removed with simple majority, e.g. the current stable state could be made obsolete in a matter of a weekend — with devastating consequences for the economy. Adopting the euro means tighter integration with EU only and it’s mostly irrevocable … sadly for Russia and its proxies over here.

This is already happening. But it’s not the cement company but the State. And you have no choice whatsoever.

Well, the state I can accept - death and taxes. But has it now become "death, taxes, and commissions to the authors of operating systems"?

One of the most known examples happened in Germany after WWII.

After the war Germany had lost quite a lot of businesses, infrastructure, industry and farming. Also obviously lots of manpower. Produce was scarce and inflation was extremely high, so it was actually quite difficult to purchase anything even though people had money. the Allied Forces introduced price control on almost all essential good in order to stop inflation. That obviously did not work at all and most goods were actually traded in the black market, so you could actually buy bread by paying with cigarettes.

A German economist, Ludwig Erhardt advised to remove all price and legal controls and to replace the old mark by a new one, but the Allied Forces only agreed to the latest, so a new currency was introduced, the Deutsche Mark, replacing the old Reichsmark. That had no effect whatsoever. However, Mr. Erhardt, from his position as Director of Economic Administration, decided unilaterally to remove of the price fixing and other regulations. And literally overnight, German streets filled with sudden and unplanned pop up markets, everyone started to sell anything they didn't need, just by the street or from their front yard.

In 1949 Erhardt became Minister of Economy for 14 years, and later, in 1963, Chancellor.
