I do agree with your conclusion, but the catalog in most online shops is certainly not impartial. Amazon sells the entire first page of search placement, for example.
Within a few years people will be accustomed to the idea of AI chatbots selling them stuff and it will be obvious then too. The first time paid placements appeared in a catalog, it was probably also not obvious then.
catalog ads are labeled. "what's the best something I can buy?" is begging for unlabeled ads that go against your interest. if you literally cannot tell between ad and not ad, you can't skip to actual results, it's useless.
Catalog is impartial? Then why are ~40% of every search I do on Amazon a sponsored product? There is no pure "catalog" especially with cheap crap coming out every day from no-name Chinese labels.

and if they leak when you don't have the money to fix it, you just live for as long as possible with leaky pipes, then try to fix it yourself and MAYBE you shop for cheapest plumber possible. end result, plumber earns less because you are broke

I'm not american but I see technically nothing wrong with MAGA for me. it doesn't mean you must be transphobe or homophobe etc. but what people do under MAGA is another thing. sometimes it feels like for them it means "run america into the ground" or "get rid of all the best about america". GRABA if you like
GP said they weren't okay with someone using an AI to check for grammatical errors. If they would be okay with using software to check for spelling errors, I'd be interested to know why they're making that distinction. And I'd like to know what they think of autocorrect, which at least on the iPhone uses an on-device LLM nowadays.
"AI" can mean anything with machine learning. Spellchecker can use some sort of machine learning too. But what people mean when they say "AI" is LLM chatbot. But a spellchecker highlights mistakes, it doesn't suggest to rewrite the text arbitrarily like an LLM chatbot. So I totally understand how you can be for one and not other
By the way autocorrect on the iphone got worse recently, bunch of times it "corrected" the word to a wrong one for me
