I’m wondering if neighboring competitor schools who offer python classes are the reason for the change since more students would actually consider attending a different school due to having a stronger post experience and skills gained.

I don't think Northeastern is worried about attracting applicants, they were the 8th most applied-to school in the US last year, with nearly 100K applicants. And CS is one of their most popular programs.

I think the more likely cause is pressure from their co-op program's partner employers to make the intro curriculum more 'practical' (i.e. outsourcing training from the employer to school). It's beneficial in the short-term but IMO a loss in the long-term, Northeastern is a university not a bootcamp.

My biggest worry is that maybe the co-op program for CS became a "low interest rate" phenomenon over the years from ~2009-2020 and now they don't want to take gambles on students that likely need to grow into the role. It's not enough, and they treat it like a regular internship program.

‘There is no clear cut one thing, I think it is multi-factorial and there are other aspects,’

The title contradicts the answer, which is also vague and lacks specificity. Considering the mass list of advertisements on the page, it’s AI generated for $$$; thus the baity title, imo.

Using both I think it comes down to personal preferences. One learns to appreciate their approaches to the complexity of FE dev. I do think ultimately it comes down to support , tooling and job opportunities. I was an advocate for Vue and now unfortunately I recommend React. Native mobile development is too important to disregard.

Nice opinion. I started with Vue2/3 and now I’m learning react. Vue is designed better but react is further in development and more widely supported. Native mobile performance was the deal breaker. Ultimately you’ll find it easier to get a job using react vs vue.

Indeed React unfortunately wins over in terms of quantity of jobs, I'd argue mostly due to network effects. Hopefully that changes some day!

Native development is definitely a pain point, unfortunately there's few options other than React Native there. Problem being that React is backed by Meta, so obviously it has a lot more money being thrown at it compared to competitors like Vue or Svelte.

The left and the Democrats has become so far left and radical that their party didn’t resonate with everyday Americans for the past several years.

The Democrats are firmly centre-right when compared against most of the rest of the western world. They wouldn’t know far-left if it slapped them in the face.

Have they? They've been consistently trying to chase moderates for years. Harris had Liz Cheney and Dick Cheney backing her. I'd say their attempt to capture these people has largely failed.

very funny to watch this post go from +3 to -1 as the Americans woke up

this is so wrong. the dems have shifted rightward. they would've won if they were further left.

I love Vue. Svelte is great! Unfortunately nothing beats react especially if one plans to develop for mobile. Despite how ugly the nuances in react are compared to those two, it’s still more mature making the other two trying to catch up and feel outdated in terms of features.

I’ll just spend more for the storage lol.

The market was flooded with people. Companies are just trimming.

True. However the future may be different if the government doesn’t make changes. It’s easier and cheaper to now hire off-shore devs than Americans. There goes your pay raises and jobs or competitive salaries.
