Just a thought (I am no airline expert), If it costed 200 million to build the plane that was destroyed because landing gear can not be deployed then maybe it's time to think about building a catcher similar to spacex booster catch.
This would probably need different plane design like vertical landing and horizontal landing gears.
Writer has a point that we have evolved into compressing lot of the information, and the problem is not people it's "abundance". This raises the issue, how do you consume it? compress the it so it's quicker to digest otherwise. Example, how many tabs are open on your browser? why?
If we could use use gps co-ordinate then it would make all the life simpler. Imagine how many time you type those address info on the forms and not to forget typing mistakes.
Why not an email address that you can add a physical address to on the platform of your national postal service? Have parcels be sent to the email address, and the postal service resolves that at dispatch time to your current address. No hassle when moving, no spreading your address everywhere, easy to remember.
This is a virtual postcard, so while I can read it in my email or on usps.com, I won’t necessarily find a paper copy delivered.
It is my understanding that commercial mailings can also use this mechanism. I receive some marketing as original JPEG quality, rather than being scanned in grayscale.
I don't know, I feel like "38.57266, -9.19670" is harder to remember than "55 bridge street, foobar city, mexico". Maybe What3Words would be better: "///obscure.loftily.tasting", but it does not give any idea on locality.
We could use Google Plus codes instead.
They look like 3W4J+622 Calgary, Alberta.
The digits after the + can be added or removed to increase of decrease accuracy. They can but need not be also be replaced partially with a locality like Calgary, Alberta.
IMO, there are few solid reasons to purchasing this tool
1. windsurf has lot of insights into how developer writes code, style, problem etc
2. for the prompt engineering that went into generating the code
3. only microsoft and cursor has the moat so they need to compete at the applications level not model level.
My prediction is anthropic, google or amazon will buy cursor. The next logical step to coding is building apps.
1. Remember Murphy's Law
2. Have Rollback option
3. Keep things todo on go live date to a minimum. You would be surprised lot of the risks can be mitigated before the date of change.
I like this - “Let your scars serve you; they are an invaluable learning experience and investment in your capability and resilience.”
I have had couple of scars of mine. I feel like sometimes you become risk-averse and When you are launching new things you will face the fear of failure.
Basically total cost of ownership has gone up!
If you add up, Purchase Price + Repair Cost + Gasoline Cost.
Not to mention, sale tax on each of the above (Higher the cost, Higher the tax).
Having no car, or maximum 1 car per family is probably a best option.
I bought two new cars 10-11 years ago. Both Toyotas. Neither has ever needed a repair that wasn’t my fault or normal wear (batteries, oil, tires). When washed and cleaned, they almost feel like new again and I wouldn’t be surprised if they are still in great condition years from now. I believe my experience is fairly typical.
Both were purchased with 72 month loans at negligible interest rates.
So for years now, my marginal cost of driving has been basic maintenance, insurance, and gas. The only fixed cost are government taxes.
I’ve thought about buying a new car over the years. But every time I look, it just doesn’t make sense to do it. They have less space inside, touchscreens, privacy invading sensors, high price tags, higher interest rates, higher taxes, and higher insurance rates.
This would probably need different plane design like vertical landing and horizontal landing gears.
