...the cancellation of the SegWit2x hard fork eliminated any uncertainty surrounding the mid-term performance of bitcoin and most importantly, eliminated the possibility of a split chain by the end of 2017. As such, many analysts including Mayer, Max Keiser, and Tom Lee have predicted the bitcoin price to achieve the $8,000 mark by the end of this year.
According to a report by Nikkei, 4,500 large-scale stores and merchants already accept bitcoin as a payment method in Japan, including leading retailers, airlines, hotels, and even restaurants. That number is expected to increase by five-fold, to 25,000, by the end of 2017.
The buyers rarely understand what they are getting. Because of that they will use different marketing approaches and customer service. The good buyers will be lucky to keep 50% of the customers. Other buyers may decide to take the idea and tangibles such as domain names, and rebuild from scratch. In either case it sure is hard watching your baby get sold off and changed.
This happens a lot. Just go to PACER and do a search on certain amounts as respondents to civil cases and you will find the cases. Start with a party search like "$40,000" or such, since the numbers will be the respondent name in the case.
Bill Gates made this same promise when Windows 1 was released. That each monitor and printer would require drivers specific to their model in order that the fonts would be measures in points (or pica) instead of in pixels.
Somehow we ended up with all the drivers for each device even though the original promise has been long forgotten.
We sacrificed the days of the plain printer with Centronix hardware interface, and the versatility of the Unix lpr spooler where you simply sent a stream out to printers containing control codes you knew would work with your device, like carriage return and linefeed. Then later the Calcomp and HPGL codes.
And what did we gain for that trade?
I think this link is great, because someone is clearly remembering the promise. Upvote for that.
It would be cool to see how many people are logged in here right now, next to my login name. And maybe a click on it to pop down a widget showing a pie-chart breakdown by country. It surely changes based on the time of day around the world.
From personal experience I can say that when you are post-op and need them, opiates are the only answer sometimes. During pain, addiction potential is very low.
The problem comes when doctors continue to simply prescribe the drugs without including a pain management specialist to continually monitor their usage.
