I worked on the Grav team when it was first created. Remarkable flat-file CMS that it is, it's actually found a lot of great use cases that WordPress just doesn't play well for.
I personally still use and love it even now, a good six years later.
I do and I don't. I miss the excitement, I miss the feeling of finding something new that's precious. You only had so much time on the phone in those days, even if you were sticking to your free dialing area.
I also got exposed to a lot of stuff at a young age partially enabled by BBSes, and I wonder how it affected the adult I am today. I was in a LOT of precarious situations far outside what might be considered appropriate free range parenting.
The modern Web is full of sites that don't need all the bulk that comes with a database-backed CMS like WordPress or Joomla. A lot of folks just want something that is quick, simple, and easy to create content for.
I personally still use and love it even now, a good six years later.
