From my experience, the somewhat clear plastic tubing that is often used is subject to becoming brittle and crack over time. I replaced mine with copper. Haven't had any problem since with it.
I have a Whirldpool that quits cooling about every three years. I've fixed it each time. The problem is a inverter/frequency shifter keeps burning out. The compressor, an Embraco, is a 230 vac, 3 phase requires a inverter to convert 120VAC single phase to three phase 230VAC. The inverter does double duty as a frequency shifter to control the speed of the compressor while keeping the voltage constant. After the third time it burned out I plugged the refrigerator into a large surge protector. It has since died again. The other refrigerator from the early 90s is still working without any problems. The amount of energy the three phase compressor saved was more than canceled out by the cost of the parts to repair it
I use to prank the telemarketers but unable to with robo callers. One a woman called wanting me to switch long distance carriers. I halfway listened to her spill for twenty minutes while watching TV. Finally she wanted me to switch. Told her I couldn't for I was house sitting. She asked about my home number. Told her I only had a beeper. She asked me why I let her talk so long. Told her she had such a lovely voice and I enjoyed listening to it. She slammed the phone down on me.
For years I got a spam call every morning during my commute to work. I found Lenny the automated old person who would keep callers on the line from anywhere from 2-20 minutes.
It really was fun listening to callers freak out when they realized what was happening.
Crashed once in Nassau when I was a kid. Brakes failed on the left side on a Beechcraft Model 18, spun the plane around on touchdown. Slid sideways down the runway, broke the landing gear then rolled breaking the left wing. Everyone splashed through fuel walking away. There was no fire.
A year later I almost crashed in St Thomas in another Model 18. That was pilot error. Carburetor heat was on and we took all the runway trying to get off the ground. We took off towards the ocean and flew a long way so close to the water that we were sucking water up and spraying the plane. I was blissfully unaware as a kid. Thought the pilot was playing around.
Question is... would using an AI as a muse lead to more creativity or dulling a personal creativity? It is one thing where people would hang out and spitball ideas that led to inspiration. But I wonder if people in the future will become too dependent on AI muses. Don't forget how we now have generations of math illiterates since the dawning of calculators.
I use to use Canon printers and in the 90s, as computers were becoming more powerful, they moved the "smarts" into the drivers inside the computer reducing cost. The printer no longer accepted anything but dot by dot instructions from the driver. Being strictly windows driver, my new printer was a paperweight with my Linux os. Since then, the Linux Community has developed support from the printers but I moved on to Brother. Canon has lost me for good. I've been a loyal user of Brother printers for decades. They just work, reliably and more economically.
Back in 2005 I was working for Dupont and had a mandatory hearing test. I asked for the results and was told that was the property of the company and I couldn't have access to it. I felt at the time it unethical to withhold information regarding my health. Now I'm wondering if it was illegal too.
Well more recently I had a urine drug screening for a job. I passed obviously but I was curious about the results and the drug testing company also told me it was the property of the company.
The only Apple I used never had this problem. But then again, the first thing I did with it was replace the OS with Linux. :-P
