Lol yeah same. Glossed right over that wall of numbers

Then you may like playing with this too (if you're on the desktop):

So true. get out there, go to shows, find/attend jam sessions by asking around, visit studios, make friends in person.

Cloud music sharing for music that’s still half baked. Built this for myself years ago and I use it often when working on musical projects with friends around the world.

Think Whats app private groups meets Dropbox meets iOS voice recorder, with cloud transcoding. Mobile and web compatible.

Such a good point about needing to feel it.

For intuitive interval training you can try this app (I built).

https://harmonyoscillators.brianfogg.com/

Essentially it’s two tunable sine wave oscillators and a simple waveform visualizer. you can manually tune the oscillators to any interval, gradually slide things in/out of tune, select intervals from from scales and see the mathematical calculations generated by various tunings. You can also run it in binaural mode (pure tone in each ear).

When I was teaching piano and music theory I used this tool to help students practice active listening for beat frequency and harmony. Maybe it can be useful to some of you.

Wow I just played with this for a while - I've never had the opportunity to see and hear the waves at the same time and really enjoyed it. It was really neat getting the frequencies close in binaural mode and hearing the pulsing of the phases being slightly off. Thanks for sharing!

Absolutely!

do I? great question… I was listening to npr today and there was this guy talking about a book he has written on the artistic similarities of Prince and Charles Dickens. Apparently they had similar patterns of production, both extremely prolific, working on multiple major works/albums simultaneously and generally accepting a non-perfect result (subjective idea I know), and just publishing constantly etc. To beat the perfectionism creeping in I have tried to simply finish the song in one sitting. If I have to go back it’s always weird and difficult and of course my patches are not all the same and totally un-recallable with analog gear. Some of the best stuff comes by forcing a lossy non-revertable approach. Instead of polishing, just go at it again. Your best song is the one you have yet write and all that…

I really feel this. I run a small studio working on my own music and music for friends. The review cycles, listening and modifying is really important for me, incremental progress and all that. I’ve been working on bespoke software to smooth out the process. Audiopile.cloud if you’re interested.

Here’s my version of the same idea haha

Sweet!

I've been working on a website/app which is designed to optimize the recording and sharing of audio files between musicians in private groups. My friends have been joking that it's an anti-social network of sorts. It's not built to facilitate any mass distribution, and has no option for a publicly subscriptable feed. It just smooths over a few of the sticking points in the record, listen, share(sometimes large file), iteration loop that many collaborative musicians find themselves working within.

The project has been a labor of love between friends and I would really love to find a few more users out there!

new idea for a lego app: Dump all your legos on the floor, take a video / photos of the pile. (nicely spread around). App should create a complete inventory of all your bricks. From there, generate list of sets which can be built, etc...

this project is inspired by a project that does literally exactly what you just posted https://brickit.app/

It's extraordinary how bad this website is. If I hadn't seen the twitter video showing what it actually did, I would have no idea just based on this page. The video alone could be the entire website and it would be better than this.

For such an incredibly cool project it's a shame

Requires an Instagram login to watch the “how it works” video, too. Just bizarre.
