Love these types of real-time effects rendered in the browser. Nice work!

With the insane growth streak that Canadian real estate has had, I’m not surprised that many households have decent net worth yet poor cash flow.

Lots of people bought households in Toronto / Vancouver for <$500k which are now valued at ~$2M. People are drawing on home equity line of credit to fund their lifestyles (vacations, renovations, new car, etc.)

The top quintile makes $200k per year in income on average. Even these households would be stretched thin to afford a $2M home.

From what I hear, most younger people in Canada can only afford a home with the help of gifts from parents.

I’m an American living in South Korea and am always shocked to see how locals will just leave their phones unattended — on the table in the restaurant or cafe while they order or use the washroom.

Remarkably, theft seems to be non-existent.

Here’s hoping it stays that way.

It’s nice to live in a world with no crime, right?

There are plenty of countries like this.

It can be like that anywhere. The trick is to have more empathy for victims than for criminals.

Build a tool that automates a task that people hate doing.

Share the tool on HN, Reddit, Product Hunt, etc.

Charge $x per month.

Thank you for your reply. Your reminder opened my eyes.

Beautiful work here and thank you for making it FOSS. Congrats on shipping!

Really clean data visualization work here. d3.js is always a pleasure to work with

Thank you! It took me quite some time to get a hang of d3, but once you figure it out, it's such a customizable workhorse for data viz.

Very cool, it’s a nice way of following the news without too much distraction. I can just glance at the screen every couple of minutes to read a section.

Would you mind describing the process / tools for building this?

First foremost, the capability. Works only one TV stations

I have my phone streaming payed app, many stations. Connecting to laptop using a double jack cable, the laptop is an old linux laptop with microphone port

Now i did some magic to use the local chrome speech to text inbuilt, that doesn't consume using API, it rather wastes charging the laptop Tell me if you want the source code for the node.js project

Note: if you use the service I'll make sure i don't close the laptop.

I'm interested in the node.js project

Thanks for interest

Copyright right violations, all the way down

Absolutely agreed on this. We should all “embrace our mediocrity” and create things as we like — music, essays, art, etc.

It’s an innate human quality to be creative, so we should focus on that rather than external validation from like/upvote counts.
