eh... doubt it had much impact on anything other than just annoying everyone who spotted it. The companies will shake out as they execute.
The bigger question is the DBA (don't be an asshole) philosophy. If you're a fan of mercenary mantra with no rules of engagement, so be it... but you're a jerk. If you win, you get to be a rich jerk. Otherwise, just a jerk.
I recently met the CEO/Founder of Stripe - he was awesome, crushing it, and talked at length about doing the right thing by his people, the world, etc. He's a rich guy that won by kicking ass - not by screwing with other people.
So if you like to be a jerk, create animosity, and contribute to the general consensus that the Valley is about F'ing with each other... then rock on. Otherwise, why not follow the DBA rule and focus on winning investors and customers the old fashion way - being awesome.
Thanks guys. Here is a simple list of "sales" templates you can use with a single click. No excuse if you're in sales to not use something this easy... helps you close deals and keep track of your prospects/customers engagement
Thanks Jax. We were working on our own deck when I thought "what are the best pitch decks" - it was a bit difficult to find a single resource. The best I found was on Quora, so I had an intern whip up a POP & add a domain (took 1 hour on http://Populr.me). Might as well dogfood my own service :)
Hope it helps someone else. My favorite is the 'Go Yast!' pitch - you have to go about 8 min in before it starts, but WOW... its like Braveheart meets startup pitching
Now that they're on ARM, their office efforts probably shift to make it ubiquitous on every platform - even exploring the iOS/RIM options. Thus, the entire office team may have a different perspective now... creating a very different approach to development, etc.
Hey guys - we're hoping to launch in a few weeks with the vision of providing a micro publishing platform for businesses & organizations.
The original vision was to create a platform that made it easy for delivering a pre/post sales response in an attractive and engaging method. Basically, I wanted to deliver whatever the prospect asked with video, files, images, etc. I hated boiling everything down to a 5 paragraph email with 4 attachments.
Over the past few years, I noticed a trend towards 1 page websites - they were easier to create and easier to consume. As I explored this 'micro publishing' concept, I started to see new sites appear like http://Pen.io, http://OneSheet.com, etc
I've called this pages POPs for a long time (Published One Pager or Public/Private One Pager). The idea, for me at least, is that if you could empower people to create POPs that looked nice & allowed you to easily share/track... perhaps they could alter how we communicate online.
Since we've launched our alpha, we've seen over 40+ ways users are communicating with POPs - well beyond sales.
So, thoughts?
Here are some inspirations we've made based on what the alpha group has uncovered.
I second this... users rarely read anything & remember even less. If you let them in, then they expect it to work. Its unfortunate for Opera, but we're doing the same for our beta launch.
I've heard of a few strategies around sleep... one is 'amount', one is 'waking', and one is 'quality'. Things like sleep apnea effect the quality, the http://sleepyti.me site helps with waking, and I'm still curious about the amount.
Much thanks for the Shout out to Populr.me! Crazy to think that YouSendIt is the defacto way that people send big files... I thought surely there were a lot of options, but not the case when I googled (drop.io had some cool traction until FB bought them and mothballed it)
Anyways, we launch in Oct so hopefully peeps will get some mileage out of this
Hi, I'm one of the founders of populr. I know both of these men personally. Don't worry, they are not the same person. A quick google search can probably allay your fears.
