Please do! This would be amazing

Allegedly, Nintendo chose to buy them off with millions of dollars to suspend development instead of pursuing legal action.

Is there any source on that?

All I'm seeing is they got their hands on the domain, which can be (and was in the past) just part of whatever settlement they agreed on, and the game press spinned that into "Nintendo bought Ryujinx".

Oh wow. ChipWits was one of the first games I ever played on my first computer, the Apple Macintosh way back in 1984 when I was 6. Just wanted to drop you a line and say thank you so much for making one of my favorite games. I've just downloaded the new demo and added the game to my Steam wishlist.

I always love to hear from a player of the original. Be sure to join our Discord so you can give feedback. IF FEEL COFFEE -T-> PICKUP!

I have physical copies of the games I play in Ryujinx, and don’t dump the ROMs myself. I suspect I’m in the minority however.

I love Yuzu and Ryujinx both. It’s crazy that they can provide a superior experience to the native console. I suspect the party’s about to be over thanks in no small part to Denuvo.

I doubt it. So far Denuvo's claims to prevent emulation are just that, claims. Even if they do, people have an unlimited amount of time to work on bypassing it.

Eh, I'm less skeptical. Denuvo has a proven track history of being exceptionally difficult to crack (and last I'd heard, only one hacker even possesses the skill to do so.) If they're as competent with locking down Switch titles (or, as is rumored, future Unreal Engine games) the gaming community at large is in for some chop.

its best to wait and see, but their strategy seems to hold water.

think about it, emulated GPU´s are an approximation of the output, like "mathematically inexact" output pixels, even through perceptually they are as good and often better than the original.

even if you just draw a textured triangle, the texture sampling quality/output varies from different gpu families (even from the same vendor), so "drawing and testing against the framebuffer" is a somewhat strong check to see if the gpu is an tegra X1.

game code that renders using a shader and checks for the precise expected outputs in the framebuffer will fail in emulators (unless the thing is cycle accurate and has no enhancements!), so the games might need to be cracked.

and cracking/bypassing denuvo is a pain in the ass.

what this probably wont solve or seems to be tackling is switch piracy on real switch hardware.

It also skims 5 fps from your framerate. Maybe that's nothing for some, but

This is fascinating to me - my own situation is similar, but I do not consider myself lonely. I also have the pleasure of working remotely and don't have friends or family close by. I don't miss the awkward chaos of interpersonal social interaction in the flesh, nor do I engage in the use of social media.

I'm also employed as a software dev and assume that I must be filling my social well with banal Zoom meetings. I, too, have no specific ambitions or long-term goals beyond living as comfortably and well as possible until my meaningless little stretch of life reaches its inevitable conclusion.

Everybody needs somebody to love. It could be anybody. You just need someone to love.

Seriously, are you ok? Life doesn’t have to be meaningless, but that’s up to you. You get out what you put in.

It's nice to have somebody to love, and to be loved by somebody.

But you don't really need it. And being alone is better than be in company of toxic people. A surprisingly amount of people are toxic to have around. Being alone and feeling lonely are entirely different things anyway.

And life being meaningless is not really a bad thing, maybe it depends on how a person faces its meaninglessness. I happen to cherish it. I enjoy my meaningless moments.

This is really interesting!

I think my life would be much less complicated if i had the same feeling.

I always thought that most people that are most of the time alone, would be lonely. Especially because you hear a lot of old people trying to talk a lot to the people who help (cook/clean/shopping) because they tend to be lonely.

So suppose one day I would loose my close friends and family, there's a chance i could be happy on my own?

> Everybody needs somebody to love. It could be anybody. You just need someone to love.

Why?

Maybe just some thing to love is fulfilling. For example a hobby?

Song lyrics tell us so it must be true.

Similar here. Mostly alone, but not lonely (thanks in part to HN?). I usually manage to hang out with someone once a week or so (mostly, they come visit me to surf with me). That feels just about right. I do worry, though, about what happens if I get sick or injured.

In our country, the government helps people who are sick or injured, financially and materially. I hope it is the case in your country as well.

Hah, that would be nice! Unfortunately, I live in the USA. Where are you?

Belgium aka the country that was referred to as a 'hellhole' by a former US 'president'.

I’ve been running into this exact problem in recent weeks. Switching to piped.video is the workaround I’m using atm.

Yeah, my friends and I have used a low-traffic Slack channel for about four years. The era of the “free lunch” is over. Time to move on.

I hope I'm wrong, but assuming these treatments do prove effective in humans, it won't be made available to the likes of us. The elite will get to enjoy unnaturally long lives (or perhaps escape death completely) while the rest of humanity is literally rendered disposable.

This has never happened with any other medical treatment. Why would this be different?

Compare this relatively simple treatment to the unbelievable amount of resources spent to treat the diseases that directly come from aging (cancer, heart disease, Alzheimer’s, etc)

Medicare pours billions of dollars into treating these diseases with relatively little success. This would be an order of magnitude less expensive.

The traditional office is dead. Better to turn these spaces into something useful like apartments.
