Bobby Broccoli: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCSPLhwvj0gBufjDRzSQb3GQ

Documentaries about daring scientific fraud such as "The man who tried to fake an element" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qe5WT22-AO8 or "The man who faked human cloning" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ett_8wLJ87U

Or the epic tale of political intrigue in "The $21,000,000,000 hole in Texas" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3xSUwgg1L4g about the The Superconducting Super Collider that never was.

> because they don't want the Army encroaching on their core skill of aviation

That's exactly what's going on. Incidentally that's one of the reasons USAF did their best to bury the promising AH-56 Cheyenne [0] back in the day, it was in direct competition with their own program that would later become the perennial A-10. [1]

Firefox recently added HTTPS-Only Mode setting, basically equivalent to HTTPS Everywhere.

HTTPS only mode displays a warning every time the HTTPS version is not available.

HTTPS Everywhere/Brave tries to upgrade connections to https, if not falls back without throwing up annoying warnings.

I find this one much more intelligible: https://covid19info.live/

Better presentation, but laggy: At this writing, no 03/06 data. Johns Hopkins is complete through 03/06:

>"It's like someone waving a stick in your face," Ackermann says. "At some point, you're going to say, 'I'm not welcome here and I'm going to leave.'"

Having worked a couple of summers in my youth at an apple and sweet cherry orchard, I find this quote comically naive.

People paranoid about randomness have been duct-taping ionizing radiation sources from smoke detectors to webcams for decades now. This is non-news.

> It’s a shame that the standard way of learning how to cook is by following recipes.

It isn't, not where I'm from. The standard way of learning how to cook in Poland is by watching your parents/grandparents do it.

Same here. I'm from England. But I'm also 62, I suspect that people closer to the average age of HN commenters and in the US probably have a different experience.

> It is beacause human heights do not vary too much. No adult is 2x taller than another adult. (I just checked: tallest adult alive is less than 2x of shortest adult alive).

Sultan Kosen is 8ft 3in tall, while Jyoti Amge stands at 2ft 1in. https://i.imgur.com/YhL3bcn.jpg

A domain name is--in a sense--property. It can be bought and sold, garnished to pay off debt.

Utilitarian logic doesn't apply here.

It's interesting that even in 2017 there are still people on HN willing to tolerate signup forms served without TLS.
