This is a cool idea. I'd love to see it easy to create apps that can communicate using something like this and/or Bluetooth mesh networks

It could be advertised via Google's Nearby Bluetooth API

Nasty, ugly, closed.

Prefer: normative, specified, open. Gimme Physical Web, please. Which has a mdns protocol- it's kind of funky tbh, but at least your not enjoindering yourself and your users into a silo.

The lucrative thing about Google Nearby is that it works across iOS and Android and since it has an option to fallback using sound (ultrasound?) it can work on any device which has a speaker and mic[1]. Are there any open solutions which lets me simply pass messages between 2 devices without any sort of configuration? BT LE is ruled out (for now) because I can't rule out pre-Lollipop devices[2]. I wish there was a more universal and open protocol which was fast, reliable and worked on most mobile devices to simply exchange small packets of data.

[1]: Of course it doesn't have support for Windows 10 Mobile, but not due to practical limitations.

[2]: BT LE in 4.3,4.4 has lot of issues and limitations

Edit: added caveat about not supporting Windows 10 Mobile

Then WiFi Direct for something already supported in Android.

Hasn't Google been pushing for Physical Web, and baking support for it into Android? It was a big thing at last year's Chrome Dev Summit.

Any clue as to how this will be priced? Before I even consider putting time into this i'd like to know how competitive the pricing is going to be if this graduates.

Okay this one is hilarious.

I especially liked the box "This question is intentionally left blank"

No, because grammar.

Short Answer: No

Here is the redis author's blog post about that: http://antirez.com/news/52

My guess is that SSD's would be beneficial in ensuring the Append-Only-File and RDB snapshots are faster.

This should be titled "Top Tech Certifications" which is totally different than "Top Tech Skills" which is a list I was hoping to see.

If her role was "Developer Evangelist" she has done more harm than good. The thought of walking on eggshells worried about everything I say would be enough to get me to either switch companies or avoid working there.

I did the same thing. Followed them on twitter just to be aware of the outage status without having to go look for it.

Since the service is timing out, I think we'd all be best served in this case by having robust internal monitoring.

Just add the ability to paste an image from the clipboard (on supported browsers obviously) and its great!

Do you mean a button, that, when clicked, uploads the image from clipboard? (https://github.com/enyo/dropzone/issues/38)

Similar to gmail in chrome where you can press ctrl+v (cmd+v mac) to paste and if it is an image it uploads the image for you as if you just dragged a file.

Another example that uses it is: http://mysticpaste.com

Just get an image in your clipboard and paste in the box

Now I can finally do all the special moves whenever I want! FINALLY!

The sooner the better. I'd like to see IE<10 dead and enough adoption of ie10 to get the other guys competing for speed and features again. It would also be awesome if ie10 would self update like Chrome and Firefox.

Unfortunately enterprise IT will probably block this for a while.

it's funny how nothing changed in the last 5 years. Just replace ie10 with ie9 or ie8 in the comment and not too long ago those were true.
