That diagram was drawn like that just for exemplifying purposes.

Just to illustrate what network interfaces you would use for communicating between server processes.

It would be interesting if they mentioned the proportion/amount of money that goes to songwriters/artists per song.

If they want that lead balloon to be a golden parachute, they can make it, just rising the percentage of the royalties they pay to the artist.

It reminds me of the famous "Wear sunscreen" video :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?gl=MX&v=0CVB8YSOLK4

Ugh, got decontextualized.

I meant the video reminded me about the recurring ranting (or praising) cycle that takes place when looking life in hindsight. :)

"... when you were young prices were reasonable, politicians were noble ..."

If it's only hosting and bandwidth, how does this differ from wordpress, blogspot and other blog hosting solutions?

It isn't self evident. That's why research and studies are performed.

We can assume or think a lot of things are self evident, but if there isn't any hard facts lying around, we can never be sure.

Ok, self-evident is the wrong word. Properly expressed, what they describe and conclude is exactly what I have experienced all my life. If I stay up all night, or close to all night, the following night I will sleep for 10+ hours. The following night after, another 10+ and the 3rd night 8-9. Not by choice, I just can't be woken by my alarms.

This pattern repeats almost without fail.

I'd love to see Mexico added to that list :(

I wonder about the applications we would be able to hack up (and the excellent handset we would be able to lay our hands over).

FWIW after reading this I felt like the time I finally got C pointers right.

I think you can even feel your mind expanding a little bit... ;)

He was being a little bit sarcastic about it. ;)

Well, that does make more sense.

I think that's why the India's Defence Research Development Organisation is looking into it.

What is the number of days a "normal" human can survive without food or water? If I recall correctly it was 3 or 4. Although it may vary depending on the environment and activity conditions.

frankly, the probability of fraud by the researchers or reporters strikes me as many orders of magnitude higher than the probability that he can fast indefinitely without dying.

Yeah, it would take a lot of trustworthy eyewitnesses, video evidence, etc to convince me of this claim. Having some measure of mental control over your heartbeat or body temperature is interesting; having your cells function long-term without calories to burn and without creating waste products that need to be removed by water....

Well, that's quite a claim. I'd count it more likely that he's a cyborg from the future.

Most people can go a pretty long time without actual food, so long as they have water and a few key vitamins to help the body metabolize its own fat stores and proteins. People only last a few days without any water.

Water + vitamin fasting is sustainable for weeks or months, if I recall correctly. I don't remember the specifics, but I think B12 is the most important.

That is the claim the subject is making.

Right now, he is being observed and has been without any water nor food for 6 days in a row. Would be interesting and maybe life changing to see what comes out of this.

Either the results will be rigged, or he will keel over, or the experiment will end for some reason.
