There are some other solutions (like jujutsu, which while using git as storage medium, has some differences in the handling of commits). But I do believe we reached a critical point where git is the one stop shop for all the source control needs despite it's flaws/complexity.

I believe it is done that way because it helps replacing the component if needed without having to order a new bespoke pcb

Edit: Also, the rp2040 is harder to solder than the other chips in the board due to the different packaging, so that might play a role on it

While you're not wrong, I believe that the effort was made with the intent of supporting everything in-house instead of relying on the community. The UI(KDE) of the Linux Caixa Mágica (Magic Box) was worked on to be user friendly and translated in portuguese as back then everything was still a bit rough around the edges, it was also pretty well documented for parents. I think my first linux was that one, and I learned a lot with it. Unfortunately I can't say the experience was universal, as the lack of teacher training(the education system evolves very slowly) and lack of resources that involved it lead to a complete flop in the classroom environments.

I've got a bunch of these Magalhães at home due to having my parents work at schools. If I recall correctly, SuperTux was exclusive to the first version of the laptop(there were two) and you can still turn heads nowadays if you take one out in public, which is pretty cool. Too bad that, despite their ruggedness, the Magalhães 1 had a very frail hard drive whose death meant that the BIOS would lock up completely when booting, not even allowing you to get to the setup menu, which for a kid meant that it became a paperweight.

Nice to know Dillo still gets some love! I've got a lot of dillo plugins stored up that I managed to get from scuttlebutt a while ago(dillo-adb, dillo-dat, dillo-finger, dillo-git, dillo-gopher, dillo-gemini, dillo-ipfs, dillo-ssb and dillo-ytdl), and if you're interested I can zip them up and send it to you to be forked and worked on the project

I think most of them are from Charles, and he maintains a scuttlebutt-web interface, so you can download them from the homepage:

https://celehner.com/projects.html#dillo-plugins

I already talked with him about keeping a copy of them in GitHub under the dillo-browser organization.

> and if you're interested I can zip them up and send it to you to be forked and worked on the project

Feel free to open an issue and upload it there, so we can keep a copy of the zip. Thanks!

Done! I actually had forgotten where I had got them, but it's great that their original repos are still up!

This reminds me of Aard2, it does the same job as the one mentioned in the article, but the dumps are really small (for example, the wikipedia english one uses around 20 something GBs) No images on it, but the app loads them from the source when needed

I've actually been running webmin on my raspberry pi 4 practically every since I got it, the night version of the authentic theme(one of the default) actually looks and feels relatively modern and is updated as well every now and then. My only nitpicks are the obsolete set of tools/panels available (it was the core reason why it took me so much to move from apache to nginx, because there's no nginx panel on the default set)

How's the footprint? Is it usable for investigating problems while the system is strained on resources?

It is not null, I'll tell ya. It's a bit of a tradeoff between cpu cycles and ability to do actual tasks. You can't really investigate much a server with it unless you're investigating a machine in a cluster from a main broker because the panel can and will get sluggish to navigate(there's no good alternative to physical access or ssh in extreme cases), but hey, at least it won't drop you easily, because the frontend responds well to high latency.

It is technically possible, but it will only hold homebrew at best, due to licensing nightmares. They published a video recently of a PoC of it happening in their discord

I think this could replace the likes of Universal Updater (3DS's main homebrew browser) if it gets to public. Not that UU is bad, it just lacks the tiny eshop dudes :)

You can just do illegal things and not give a shit.

While for sure yes, and it could probably work for a while, Nintendo is notoriously trigger happy with shutting down fan projects.

Fan games using their IP are the main targets, but emulation and rom distribution is on their radar too.

Ex. Dophin emulator for gamecube/wii has to fight tooth and nail against nintendo to be able to stay up.

Even with courts agreeing nintendo can't do anything, they still try every so often to take legal action against the project. Most recently trying to shutdown offering the emulator on the steam deck.

I can't say for sure, but I imagine that has an effect on how many people are willing to develop around nintendo products.

According to their website, it's "Optimal for: low latency, text summarisation, classification, text completion, code completion"

I think something is amiss here, her brain doesn't get wiped once she gets out of the black site, she can remember your number even if she gets out of the base without a piece of paper containing it. Have you two met before she went to the black site? If not, this reeks of a romance scam

You are suggesting she exfiltrate my phone number by memorizing it? I don't think that's allowed. I wouldn't do that if it were considered a data leak.

Can you suggest any other approaches that do not involve exfiltrating data from a secure site?

Yes, I am suggesting that. Unless you believe that one can't think about work duties while cooking dinner. Otherwise she would forget entirely about your person at home. But I want to tackle this from a more serious angle, have you researched common signals of romance scams? The black site excuse to not use a phone is very suitable for a guy pretending to be a woman so he doesn't need to get a phone number and a voice modifier (a poor job at either would lead to destroying the scam)

Plus... wouldn't a black site also not have mail?
