It all started as a discussion with my co-founder Sapan. We wanted a way to highlight our activity on StackOverflow, Github, Twitter and our blog posts while looking for jobs but couldn't find a good way to list them on our resumes or on our LinkedIn profiles. Even if we list them there, there is no way I could update it every time I do something on these sites. That's when we decided to build Shyahi.
Shyahi is a new way to build a profile to showcase your developer contributions and social activity. Its free, easy to set up and pulls in stats directly from Dribbble, Github, Stackoverflow, Twitter and your blog feed which means that the Shyahi profile is always up to date.
Hope you don't mind me saying, but just a small note: when I first saw the Recent Members section, I thought all those users are the same, and it's just a website you've filled with dummy accounts. Only on hover do i see that these are all different users.
On some of the websites I've built, I've set the recent list to show only members who've set their profile pic. May help you make it more active looking (and real).
Thanks for the tip. I also added a check now to show only the users with a custom profile image in recent members list and it indeed looks much better now. Thanks again.
Nice idea - nice project. IMO, it could really thrive once it gets good traction - congrats.
One (small) suggestion: Change your tag line from:
'Build a Shyahi profile to showcase your developer contributions and social activity.'
to:
'Showcase your developer contributions and social activity'
and make it visible somewhere in the first screen-fold. HTH
Thanks. Before diving into more services, we wanted to first get some thoughts and comments on Shyahi and the overall idea. The reason that we didn't include more stats for Github was that it required OAuth and we wanted to keep it simple for the first version. We will be adding some more services soon.
The name is Hindi translation for Ink. Sorry for the bug, we just rolled out some updates and it should be fixed now. Let me know if you still face some issues.
Hey, love the look of the site - I'll try it out tonight when I get home. I reckon it'll be great if you did as good a job on this as you did on the iDitty app ;)
> The Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) are a system of technical universities in India comparable in prestige and rigor to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology or the California Institute of Technology.
Far from it. IITs are not even in the top 20 in Asia[1].
Look at some of the criteria for those rakings. They are heavily weighted towards how many international students and faculty they attract, research done by the faculty and grad students, the number of papers they publish and how often those papers are sited. IIT on the other hand is heavily focused on producing high quality under graduate education for Indian students.
Their goals simply don't line up with the metrics being measures by those rankings.
I think that the only reason the algorithmic interviews are still so common is because of the difficulty in analyzing the real skills of the candidate. I have worked with guys really good at algorithms, but it is no way related to how good they are at building complex projects.
> Consider this: How hard would it be to ship iOS 7 UI with a native app now?
Why would you want to ship iOS7 UI now specially on the devices that don't have iOS7 yet? It just wouldn't look good. Btw, I don't think that would be impossible to do, but it would be stupid.
