I used to live in DC, and discovered a great diner in Grasonville called Holly's. I love my fried chicken and to this day, my favorite was from Holly's. Sadly, it closed a few years back. Fond memories of not only great fried chicken, but finished with some of the best milkshakes going around...

My childhood friend down the road was crazy about their catfish. I only have vague memories of Holly's but cool to see the motherland get a mention.

I don't know about WhatsApp, FB has been running ads on Insta for awhile now. How else are they going to monetize it?

Oh man, thanks for this! Just listened to the whole album. I love this 'genre'.

I accidentally found YouTube Music yatch rock playlists and have discovered so many artists, new and old. Like Abandoned Luncheonette by Hall & Oates and anything by Poolside. And so many more...

They're all pretty loosely connected in this genre, it's all easy listening I guess.

Numero Group made a compilation of "lost" yacht rock called "Seafaring Strangers - Private Yacht" a few years ago, which has some gems.

Could you share why you refuse to move to Shopify?

Their framing it as a refusal is interesting. As someone who works for an E-commerce consulting agency, we do a lot of Shopify and WooCommerce work and generally there are valid reasons for each. The biggest reason to stay _away_ from Shopify, is if you want absolute control over everything. If you can jive with their checkout flow (which honestly is great), then there's not too much that their third party add-ons cannot somewhat incorporate.

The other big show-stopper from our experience is multi-lingual support, but tbh that sucks on 95% of ecommerce platforms.

I've been subscribed to Google Play Music for years now, mainly because I'm still on the intro $8.99/month rate. Finding new music on Play is pretty difficult, occasionally, some of the playlists do surface artists I've never heard of before.

So been resorting to a few different ways to find new music.

When I use to live in Boston, I would check the gig calendars of the places I loved going to. They tended to be smaller venues where more unknown artists played. I remember once seeing Imagine Dragons as a support at the Brighton Music Hall. Boston is full of wonderful small gig venues.

Now, when I visit different cities and places, I'll follow the venues on FB so I can easily see the gig calendars. I pretty much use FB as a bookmarker for venues and bands now.

Also, I recommend a cool site called Indishuffle, it's curated by a bunch of humans around the world (I believe).

I like the original premise of AirBnB, where homeowners could rent out a spare bed or their home when they were on vacation. But seems like these days, those homeowners are either all gone, or are being hugely outnumbered by scammers or AirBnB businesses. We (a group of 5 friends) just finished a trip in Vietnam and we used AirBnB3 times. And all 3 times, the listings were not exactly truthful. The worst was a listing in Hanoi that claimed to be able to fit 12 adults. When we arrived, we could only identify 4 queen beds (2 of which were jammed together in 1 room). The other 2 listings we used were in the same complex in Saigon. We booked the listings based on our criteria of having a single home with at least 5 bedrooms. Both listings turned out to be 2 separate apartments. Both are in a complex claimed to be among the first in Saigon to disallow AirBnB. Both times, we had to pretend to the receptionists that we were long term renters. We wanted AirBnB so that we could chill together in a common space. These experiences make use want to book hotels next time...

Really, how about just signing up to the NBA League Pass? Sure it's expensive, but it doesn't need cable installation, just watch it from basically any internet accessible device.

League pass does not apply to nationally broadcast games or games in your local market. I live in LA and root for the Celtics, and watch all the home broadcasts with their arena feed. If I lived in Boston it’s not an option and I have to have a cable subscription.

If the team is on a national broadcast, it is also blacked out.

That being said, I listen to the finals on the local radio broadcasts via the NBA app because those are never blacked out.

MLB has same problem with blackouts. Irks me beyond belief.

NBA League Pass doesn't actually let you stream the playoffs (if you're in the USA), nor do you get to watch your local team. It's meant to be a supplement to a cable subscription, or a full subscription for international viewers.

I've had various iPhones and Androids over the years, most recently iPhone 6s+, 7+ and XR. I just yesterday bought a Oneplus 6T and am very happy with it. I've had the Xr for a few months now and it's been my least favorite iPhone. For me, it's a little heavy compared to even the older pluses. And the display isn't all that much chop for a premium phone. I'm glad it's a work phone, because I don't think I would ever have forked out over $1200 AUD for it. As much as I appreciate the privacy angle of the Apple ecosystem, it turns out that I've really missed just being able to install what I want on my phone. It's been liberating being able to customize what I want to not what Apple allows you to. Also, with Oneplus phones, you really do get 'flagship' quality phones without having to fork out the money.

To be fair, if you've only had the phone for a single day it's a little too early to tell how well it's going to pay off :)

I was a happy owner of the OP2, and currently the OP6. I doubt my next phone will be a OnePlus, though. While the OnePlus are great phones, the prices have risen to flagship levels over the years. The new OP 7 Pro starts at $669, a far cry from the $299 of the original OP One.

Not sure where you're from, but in the US, a fast food meal is far cheaper than buying produce from grocery stores. That is if you can find a nearby grocery store to begin with:

In the UK it tends to work out more or less even price wise. So it's a mostly a convenience vs health thing (ignoring taste preferences).

Although I did have one of these in the early 2000s:
