I don’t think people are over-estimating his competence. He set himself a goal and achieved it… getting away with it simply wasn’t important so it wasn’t the thing he obsessed over.
Not sure I agree with that. Had he stayed in hiding for months, he wouldn’t have been ID’d. Why is he walking around bare-faced a few days later? My take is he planned the actual act but didn’t think about much beyond that.
Everyone seems so focused on writing email with AI when I think the biggest opportunity is helping people read and search email. I have an inbox with 300 unread emails. Which ones require an action from me? Which ones can I safely ignore? Can you re-write responses and allow me to review and click to send?
Very broad question.. company events are good for morale. You spend most of your days with your coworkers… it’s nice to have an opportunity to kick back and relax with them on the company’s dime. My employer is doing the party during office hours.
I’ve been using ClearSpace and it cut down my screen time by about 40%. I’m a fan of the Strict Mode which basically completely blocks you out of the apps you want for X number of hours.
Cynical? That’d be on brand… especially with the ongoing lawsuits, the exodus of people and the CEO drama a while back? I’d have a hard time recommending them as a partner over Anthropic or Open Source.
I can relate. I code at home on my side projects, and enjoy solving coding issues at work once in a while, but I couldn’t sit and do it every day. The two easiest things you can do is either move to Engineering Management or to Product Management.
Be sure that people management or a PM role is something you’re actually interested in as opposed to just being a plan B. If someone asks why you’re switching, “because I grew bored with coding” is a terrible answer. Each of them also has its own downsides. The grass isn’t necessarily greener on the other side.
