The above can be hard to navigate, but there are some recommended tools in there that scrape the listings and make them searchable
Lastly, you can also try this CLI tool that uses AI to match your resume and preferences to job listings scraped from HN and a couple of other sources: https://github.com/nicobrenner/commandjobs
Oh, and you can also attend startup meetups, a lot of times you can meet the founders in person and they might be looking to hire (that’s how I first got into an early YC company)
Fun! I was a bit confused at the end because there's no "victory" state or indication. I think I was expecting it to give me a new word pair once I got to the end, or tell me "come back tomorrow for another round"
I didn't understand what you were saying at first, but it turns out that you have to click to remove the final, single letter before the "you won" screen shows.
And I agree it would be nice if the game could detect when you've reached a dead end and notify you somehow.
Their main page didn't say a single bit about their code being open source. I had to dig through the creator's GitHub to find it: https://github.com/erlend-sh/weird
That doesn't really inspire confidence in them wanting people to self-host.
There are a lot of weird comments in this thread but to me this looks like a cool, genuine project which has an obvious need; I don't think the vibes are off at all.
Given that lately I can't even be bothered to write Markdown for my static site I'm looking forward to giving this a try this weekend.
Yeah, I'm one of those commenters. I do believe its a genuine project made by someone who cares with the intention to make something lovely for the world. I believe the people who are making this are good people.
Its just that the marketing copy has some of the breathless silicon valley tone and organizational structure to it like its selling a product which grates against the quirky, personal, community-first vibes of indieweb.
And hell yeah! Any excuse to put something fun on the web is a good one, excited to see what you make :)
So she feels progressively ill and then dies, all without ever seeking medical attention? I suppose they assume it was acute / she collapsed, but it still seems unusual. She's only 65 remember.
But then Gene's just walking around the house for a week? With his dead wife in the bathroom and a barking dog in a crate??
I haven't dealt with Alzheimer's but you're telling me it's possible to be functional enough to eat and sleep for a week, but not know that your wife is dead and the barking dog needs food and water? And you don't ever seek help or outside assistance?
And then, coincidentally, you also die of a heart attack.
Just seems far fetched to me.
Edit: I guess at 95 he might have mobility issues, so maybe he couldn't call for help? Idk still seems odd.
> you're telling me it's possible to be functional enough to eat and sleep for a week, but not know that your wife is dead and the barking dog needs food and water
Absolutely, in late stages of Alzheimers you’re a vegetable, but basic bodily functions still work to some degree.
Well that's unfortunate. Although I still don't understand why she wouldn't have sought medical attention as her own condition worsened, but I suppose that's at least conceivable.
Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome starts with flu-like symptoms that are easy to write off as not requiring medical attention. Once symptoms worsen, it can be fatal in mere hours.
A lot of VCs also have job boards, or they will list their portfolio companies and you can reach out directly:
