£13bn? Are these people nuts? That's more than 10% of the total NHS budget.

It's £13bn over a number of years.

yeah, the benefits afforded by IT aren't worth 10%.

Actually, in many use cases & for many organisations 10-20% of budget on IT is a very reasonable ratio. As hackers we may not like it, but that's how the real world functions.

I was being sarcastic. Evidently I wasn't clear enough.

Shouldn't that be https://encrypted.google.com

Since they moved the domain.

Either works, seems to redirect.

Don't know how many are using it, but yes, Flash Packager for iPhone is available. It just won't be updated.

This situation grinds my gears. I love my HTC Hero, and it's great to be able to show off the many ways it beats an iPhone.

But for AAA paid apps, the iPhone wins hands down.

Hmmm.. well ORG has been attempting to organise something similar: http://www.openrightsgroup.org/campaigns/disconnection

Don't know how much success they've had.

Same thing in Scotland, with the Edinburgh Parliament building. Started out as costing £40m, ended up costing more than £400m.

In this case, the architect died before it was finished. Noone to sue.

Why, in your opinion, does the space program require justification? Is it the expense?

I would counter that the expense of a thing should not be the overwhelming factor in its consideration. Just because something is expensive, does not mean it is not worth doing. Otherwise, we would all be huddling in mud huts and carting around cow dung for a living.

Agreed. Despite the poor architecture of the site, if you value the article itself, visit the original source. If you do not, the site receives less notice, less advertising revenue, and less funding. QED, less interesting articles for you to consume.
