I ran into that with a credit card company recently. They called and left a message about suspicious activity on an account and a callback number. I couldn't find that number anywhere on their website or the web in general. I ended up calling the main # and connecting to the security department. It was a legitimate message they left. I mentioned the phone number thing and they agreed that was an issue but who knows if they acted on it.
The number isn't published because it's outsourced, your bank is not the one handling the call. The agents will speak as if they're from your card issuer, but you will notice all the automated systems will say "cardmember services" or other ambiguous name.
I got called about suspicious activity on my card and the woman asked for the last 4 of my SSN to verify my identity. I asked "how do I verify your identity" and she told me to hang up and call the phone number printed on my credit card.
A degree also proves that you were able to stay dedicated to something for ~4 years without giving up. There is a lot to be said for showing that kind of commitment to a goal.
I'm not sure that is it. I have dedicated far more time than that to other endeavours, but I can likely count on one hand the number of employers who would actually care.
I think the reality is just pack mentality. At some point, one successful business only hired those with degrees, and everyone else adopted the same policies in attempt to duplicate their success.
It's a naked picture of you that doesn't really look anything like you and contains no identifying metadata. Imagine if the last 100 naked pictures from Logan ended up on the internet. Would anybody be able to identify them?
Maybe not, but they also have a list of exactly who was there at the time. We cannot examine the software, so we have no guarantee that it really blurs face and privates. Don't you think they might be able to do some analysis with either a full-body or partially blurred collection of scans over time?
Recipage (http://www.recipage.com/) is a free solution that has a decent amount of overlap though it is more focused on bloggers being able to publish their recipes.
I cancelled a 4 year gym membership over this. They wouldn't allow credit card payments anymore, only bank drafts. Not giving a gym access to my checking account. Some MBA figured wrong when they ran the numbers on that change.
I would imagine that there are restrictions preventing the residents from installing septic tanks so their only option was the sewer system run by the city. The libertarian perspective would allow them to install their own sewage handling system as long as it didn't adversely affect others.
