I'm back after posting TinyPress here 4ish years ago. Thanks for the feedback on that project, really was amazing.

## What to check out on Goodpods:

- Check out the awesome search page!

- Check out the library feature and ability to see description for podcasts quickly

- Check out profile page

## A few notes:

- MOBILE NOT SUPPORTED. THIS ALPHA INCLUDES DESKTOP VERSION OF WEB APP. SORRY :(

- It's on the $7/month heroku hosting for now. And images aren't cached locally - so give the pages a few seconds to load please.

- The search page specifically needs a few seconds to load.

- This is early early alpha (v0.5), releases are rolling out daily to update UI & functionality.

- There will be more GoodReads functionality coming. I have a full social posting and networking feature set that is 100% done and tested, just not quite where I'd like it somehow, so I turned that off in the app for now. At this point the app is all about discovering podcasts and maintaining your library.

- Also please note most things on the site are temp - not final - including the logo and name of the site itself.

I'll be gone for most of the day traveling, but lmk how I can improve this. I'm SUPER interested in feedback and constructive criticism.

Thanks all. Dain

Aah Aaron. Thanks. Everywhere he codes he refactors, fixes performance issues, finds bugs, he's so my hero.

tenderlove is the best. Not only does he work on both Ruby and Ruby on Rails, he's also very active in the community (conferences, workshops, talks) and working hard on promoting a spirit of humility and respect (see the humorous Adequate HQ, the Friday Hug, the overwhelmingly positive and generous attitude he's always had towards anyone, famous or not, in the Ruby community). I have nothing but respect for that man and I'm glad he's working hard everyday on the language I so love.

Thank you Aaron.

Really really well said. So grateful to have him in our lovely community.

Yep. A verry rough v1 of this has been in the works for quite some time, with a few friends of mine. But they have all moved on to other projects and this is now my baby. Also, this is a completely overhauled version - hence today's HN post.

Really interesting. I had no idea about this. I'm definitely going to dig into it, thanks mate.

A feature where it creates pull-requests would even remove the need for it to have any access. Not sure if it's a good idea, as it adds more steps (and no post-in-future). Or maybe just add it as a collaborater to the project could work. I don't have a problem with how it works now, though.

Gorgeous landing page. Really quite well done mate.

Agreed but allowing the internet to instantly post to your homepage is a bad idea:

Thanks and I couldn't agree more. That was a mistake :[ Snippets that are shown in public places now must be created by registered users. For the future proper protection against this kind of behaviour will be inevitable. However prohibiting public snippets without registration is also not an ideal solution imho - would you agree?

Interesting. I'm re-building the core engine powering this using (basically all Javascript right now on Backbone) in Ruby + Javascript with an actual postgresql database behind it. Right now it's using an in memory store for things like your autosave drafts etc.

Do you think I should open source the project? Right now the Android app and the web-app (mentioned above) are closed source, but the philosophy of this platform is about open source writing - and to not have an open source application powering that seems antithetical. What do you think?

I would say it depends on your personal goals. If you're doing this as you say to open source wiring and not the application then there's your answer. If you'd like to see it develop more than you have time for theb maybe open source would be a better option or talk to some friends that find it interesting and build it together white keeping it closed. So weigh your options and what you'd like to see happen to it and go from there.

Open source would be great! Sounds like you've already got some prospective contributors out there, and an open source project will naturally be easier to market to GitHub users.

Agreed. Open source ftw! I'd love to see this app.

Indeed! I <3 Jekyll. And alright will do!

Hey guys. Thanks for checking out TinyPress.

I'm cataloging feedback I receive so you all know I'm listening, and will be iteratively adding these items as we move forward over the next week or two.

You can find the list on the post below. I'll be updating this post in real time from feedback I get here, on Twitter, or through Intercom (blue button on site).

Honestly I'm not really sure how this works - but uhh.. maybe the Fork 'n Go concept could be applied for more "out of the box" ease? (https://github.com/jlord/forkngo)

I've never heard of this. It's pretty clever, I'll see about utilizing this.

I know it can be confusing. I'm going to make a better gif on the landing page to help explain the entire process from start to finish.

Great work! Do you have an example site? Is https://tinypressco.github.io/ made with it?

Looks awesome!

Yep! It was indeed. That was using one of the 5 themes, "Hyde".

My fault, I should have read your description further.

You should put a contact email in your HN profile.

Good advice, done!

Really interesting point. I'm not exactly sure what I think would happen, but my intuition is that GitHub wouldn't turn off access to GitHub pages just for users on our platform - even if traffic was excessive. I think this generates a lot of interest in GitHub in general which is beneficial for them.

But you are right, I believe a git based cms/blog that runs in some standalone fashion could be a v2 or v3 of this product. Or perhaps a one-off paid option if you don't want to use GitHub, you can pay to use our private git repo or even a git repo you host on your own.

Oh, perfect! Thanks.
