I enjoyed it, too! It reminded me of the Sburb loading screen from Homestuck: http://www.mspaintadventures.com/?s=6&p=002037

And of course - for those who need Homestuck explained - that's a great throwback to the SimCity games, specifically here where the loading screens would often include nonsensical things like the famouse "reticulating splines". (IIRC, a lot of the Maxis games of Yore would play off that joke.)

(And thanks - now the Sburb loading theme is stuck in my head again!)

Speaking of that 8-bit sound, check Rob Hubbard's outstanding composition for 'Monty on the Run' (1985) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4EcgruWlXnQ

A friend of mine composed a great list of chiptunes: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLtCIrnpefsWr_nJJENh9o...

Check out Tim Follin's N-channels-through-1-bit on the Spectrum's piezo-electric buzzer.

The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test. I just finished chapter 18: "Cosmo's Tasmanian Deviltry", with its retelling of the legend of Owsley's freakout at the Muir Beach Acid Test. Funny stuff.

"showdead -> yes" is the only reason i have a HN account.

Off topic: lately, I've noticed a lot of dead HN comments and entire shadowbanned accounts that seem totally reasonable and on-topic. I really wish there was a way to flag dead comments that were auto-flagged as false positives, because in the past HN mods have said people who comment from IPs that were previously banned also get shadowbanned.

Next time, take a look into their comment history. A lot of hellbanned people are totally reasonable on some topics but have pet topics about which they can be incredibly obnoxious.
