If you go to China, get a burner, or buy a Chinese cell phone, the same you're buying a plane ticket, or paying for a hotel. If it's for work, ask your company to pay for it.

feel that the Federal government is being irresponsible.

It is.

If it really is then why are bogus arguments like the OP used to make it seem so?

_Security-Focused Static Analysis for Android and Java Applications_

But it seems it's not for the JVM, only for Android APKs.

Edit: https://mariana-tren.ch/docs/configuration#command-line-opti...

Indeed, only APK.

What can you send from your phone that will get you arrested by the FBI, vs what can get you arrested by Chinese forces? Is this a valid comparison?

ECHELON!

More seriously no platform is trustworthy unless it’s airgapped these days.

Or 100% (hardware, firmware, software) Open Source.

Still not addressing the critique. We banalize authoritarianism by putting things at the same level, when they should not be.

Nice try!

You could always link some news article on the FBI abuses.

But you also have a gmail address, so I don't understand the reaction.

Having a gmail address is important to not stick out.

https://www.itstactical.com/intellicom/mindset/gray-man-stra...

If you don't use it for anything interesting, you're sticking out even more. A void can be as revealing.

If you're using it for something interesting, well, you're not sticking out in the "not having gmail" camp, but what's the point.

Yeah, you also need to subscribe to the Grey Service (tm), which simulates correspondence to your specifications. Tell them I didn’t send you and they will also throw in “for free”* a bug out bag disguised as an ordinary plastic shopping bag from a grocery store.

*Shipping and handling extra, depending on your jurisdiction a paper shopping bag may be substituted.

Wokeism shows all the hallmarks of a cult or organized religion, and it's being spearheaded by academia:

- Strict adherence to dogmas (_eg all whites are racist, not dating trans is transphobic_), under penalty of excommunication (_banished from academia and/or society_).

- Dissent is not permitted (_if you deny it, you must be racist/bigot/transphobic_).

- Cult of the leader as individual (_eg BLM founders, the Squad_), while at the same time arguing the group is paramount.

- Sacraments (eg _struggle sessions, street performances_).

- Colleges as main places of cult. Pilgrimages to holy places (_eg police brutality incidents_).

- Saints (eg _George Floyd_).

Academia is funded by the state via:

- Grants to projects not necessarily resulting in any benefit, apparent or not, to society. Projects lead by professors not teaching.

- Loans to students, knowing well many won't be able to pay in years, if at all, which end in the pockets of colleges.

In Spain

The exact amount varies between regions.

Wealthy regions like Madrid have abolished it. Non coincidentally, the regions that are economically doing better, and more contributing, per capita, to the central State.

Interesting! Do you know of a good write up that captures nuances like this? Also be careful with the causality :)

It's been studied over and over. Lower taxes mean more economic activity, and less tax evasion.

An article in Spanish

https://www.elindependiente.com/economia/2021/04/25/madrid-d...

Another one

https://www.libremercado.com/2021-08-03/el-efecto-laffer-de-...

En concreto, la región de Díaz Ayuso recibió de la caja común apenas el 23% de lo que ingresó en 2019.

Meaning that Madrid out of the 100% taxes it collects for the State, only 23% end up in Madrid. But that's still fine, because of the higher economic activity.

Madrid has been accused of "tax dumping", by having way lower taxes than other regions, and still:

Tanto es así, que Madrid aporta en torno al 68% del sistema de solidaridad interterritorial (más de 4.000 millones) frente al 25,5% de Cataluña o el 6,6% de Baleares.

Meaning that, even with low taxes, Madrid funds 68% (+4 billion Euro) of the inter-region fund system.

Why "less spending" is never an option? Why do we need more and more trillions in taxes?

Power requirements on a sub vs a civilian power plant are on a different scale. A vessel reactor is small enough it easily contained and shielded, by comparison. You get free cooling. And it doesn't have to be cost effective.

I'd like more civilian reactors too. But scaling is an issue.

One major drawback is the lack of Java native tooling vs e.g. Swagger/OpenAPI springdoc project. Document generation + API validation can be part of the same build, instead of having to have a separate Node toolchain and build.
