I use the bidet every time I go to the bathroom for a #2, but the analogy you share doesn't really make much impact. The arm is in close proximity of the head and face, it's "there", but the anus is hidden and "far" and this some may feel unbothered with a non-immaculate routine.

The analogy also falls apart in that I also wouldn’t just run some water over my arm either lol. I’d use some form of soap and water, possibly even anti bacterial given the subject matter.

We have a long hand scrubbing routine, I’d expect similar for my arm at the very least.

You said that India does not have an official state religion, then to support your own point you listed European countries with majority religions implying they are officially state religions then you backtracked.

I don't know whether others are able to see your real intentions through your posts, and maybe Westerners are too politically correct to call a spade a spade, but I know a Hindu extremist when I see one. Tell me you're a staunch supporter of BJP without telling me you're a staunch supporter of BJP.

Let me explain: there is State religion, Dominant religion, Secularism.

1. Western Europe has a dominant religion but not officially secular.

2. Only 5 nations(please correct me with source material) that are secular by constitution.

3. The secular nations are : India United States, France, Japan and Australia.

4. Exceptions: Russia for example has no religion. Vietnam is officially atheist. But the dominant religion is Buddhism.

5. Nepal was the only Hindu nation until recently before the Maoist insurgency and Hindu as official state religion was struck off.

6. India is officially a Secular State. The dominant and majority religion is Hinduism, but principles of secularism is not practiced as Muslims and minorities enjoy more religious privileges than the majority Hindus.

7. This makes India secular in name only. It penalizes the majority of the religious citizens by denying them equal rights and privileges under law.

8. My opinion is that Hindus should have a Hindu nation where they are a majority at one billion especially because there is no other Hindu nation in the world and India is civilisationally Hindu and all Hindu shrines and holy places and sacred texts have ancient India or Bharat as its origin site.

All of this information with supporting evidence and official state dictates is available in the public domain and official state records.

I am going to ignore your second paragraph. It was an attack, unnecessary and personal.

Why do they NEED to have a religious state? I come from a country that has a majority from a particular religion and I've never heard such passionate stance to make my country's official religion as theirs.

Feel free to ignore the second paragraph, it wasn't intended for you, it's intended for those who can't identify extremism easily.

‘Why do they NEED to have a religious state?’

I don’t know, but I guess we can also ask:

Why does England NEED to be the only Christian Anglican country in the world?

Why does Saudi Arabia NEED to be an Islamic State?

Why would Indian Hindus want a Hindu nation? I guess it’s called Democracy.

Are you against Democracy?

To me this is a weird view of government services. I'm paying taxes to have a system serve me, and to have processes support my life not the other way around. Leaving all emotions out of the equation, the job of the jurisdiction under which I fall is so facilitate my legality so I can pursue a productive and enjoyable life. If I'm paying taxes and I'm expected to pitch in the governmental effort, then that's not where I want to be.

You can deal with the world either how you wish it were, or how it is.

The reality is that bureaucracies are full of humans – and we all know how humans are.

Everything is full of humans, but private companies with terrible processes workers would usually have consequences that demand some change. Government services have no competition sos they are exempt from consequences if they're terrible.

Before the war when I studied Russian, I had the unpleasant experience of having to get a Russian visa, which is usually subcontracted to "VFS Global", a private company. Didn't do anything to improve the experience at all.

Private means nothing if it's just another monopoly without any competition.

Plenty of exceptions to that – broadly speaking, oligopolies, but generally anywhere with low competition like the only convenience store in a locality, rural broadband, etc.

There is no perfect competition, supply doesn't perfectly meet demand, and incentives aren't always perfectly aligned ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

In any case, government services change through policy and, thus, indirectly, through the electorate. But a) it lags, b) is not the only issue the electorate care about, c) the supply of money is not infinite, d) the supply of labour is not fungible and e) in this specific case, policy on immigration is generally driven by people not immigrating, so the incentives are not aligned.

ah - i see you've never dealt with vodafone germany customer support then

Can you read my previous point? Vodafone Germany has competition, I'm not forced to be their customer if I don't want to, but I can take my money elsewhere.

Meanwhile I can't choose between other government services while in Germany but those terrible forced upon me by the state.

When you pay for a service, public or private, you are still dealing with humans that are not your slaves. So be kind and you'll get a better time or be entitled and you'll go to the bottom of the pile.

You can either try to make that ideal work, or accept reality.

I bought the app long ago, but now I have a problem: their database isn't updated. Where I live the weekend changed from Fri/Sat to Sat/Sun since a year, but the app seems abandoned.

I can think of many scenarios in which this can be actually dangerous. Not all roads in the world have a side lane in which you can stop at any time. Driving with a foggy windshield waiting to find the proper lane can be very dangerous.

I spent the first couple of years at my first job like this. Without going through much detail, back in 2006 I had to pull raw network performance data from some 7 elements every hour, then use a tool to convert to CSVs, then load into Excel, perform preliminary analysis, then email the Excel files to another team along with any alarming conclusions if any.

A few weeks into the job I completely automated these in python and all I had to do was turn my laptop on in the morning, then off in the evening, and I was done.

We own a car (Honda Accord), 1983 model. The light switches in our house date to the 1950's. Never has anything broken.

We don't know whether the search for further Mersenne primes eventually gives birth to a new algorithm which will enable further advances in other fields.

Cranking on the current best known algorithm for testing for Mersenne primes does nothing to advance the state of the art for other algorithms, though.

It’s like saying, we have a project that keeps sorting larger and larger sets using quicksort because we believe it will help advance the state of sorting algorithms. ‘We just sorted the largest ever set!’

It can provide fuel for said algorithm.

Even today NetAct remains a hot mess.

Looking back, the way OSS Middleware was supposed to reboot NetAct, was the wrong approach, we had better just rewrite everything in better C++ without the Perl/CORBA stuff, but many pieces were at play.

Not much else I can talk openly about it.

Personally for me the issue is not the size but the transfer (think streaming, service migration, etc.)

I just have a syncthing folder shared between my VPS, my home server, my desktop, laptop, and phone; it syncs it continuously so a download once syncs it everywhere else. It's basically set it and forget it.

In some countries data consumption is still capped, and reducing bandwidth usage goes a long way in making media consumption more affordable.
