I think the difference here is that Siyuan is fully open source, which means you have more confidence here.
Thanks for bringing this history up, and I think everyone should be careful when downloading a new version for this product, or better build by themselves after checking out the recents commits with some AI tools.
The edge of chaos can be thought of as a zone in the ratio between parameters where evolution or optimization of a system (in this case, maximizing information processing) can occur with access to the most dynamics (needed to explore optimization space) without the system becoming unstable.
It's traditionally applied to order/disorder, but in this case the order and disorder are more abstract as the control mechanisms in question are the excitation or inhibition of a stimulus. Excitation and inhibition are a way of controlling the dynamics of the brain, and in general are two basic controls for maintaining stability in any embedded dynamic physical system, and according to the good regulator theorem[0], a perfect inhibition/excitation control system contains a perfect model of both the embedded system and its local environment, so even learning and understanding are rooted in these two basic ways of interacting with information, and thus we see the edge of chaos appear all over in biology, neuroscience and physics if you squint a bit.
What a sad and cynical worldview. The idea that all technology, medicine, an innovation adds nothing to the betterment of The Human Condition. The idea that the only way Society can or has ever been improved is by stealing from others is laughable. I've never met anyone else that thought feeling and exploitation was a net positive for Global Society, so at least it's an interesting idea, even if I venementally disagree
If that's the case then plundering is a net positive, and the cause of every Improvement in the world. It should be in celebrated and encouraged
Sometimes, I don't believe I'm not in a simulation.
I was just using it to setup cloud saving with Syncthing and Retroarch across Windows, Mac and Android (Works brilliantly). Then I come here and see this thread.
I've recently been enjoying watching this young modder on YouTube optimize all of the original SM64 source code, doubling frame rate, and modding his own Return To Yoshi's Island
Just finished the talk. It was one of the best from any Handmade event I’ve seen, and I’m including the Acton talk from the first con in that praise. Congratulations on getting him in running such an amazing con.
