This is true, but even as a fan of hooks, I must admit that you'd be fighting a losing battle if you tried to convince your coworkers to merge your PRs with classes in them, in most places.
Switch into software as a career. I've been learning Node.js for fun for the last 4 years, while I'm a full time chemical engineer with experience in oil & gas, metals & mining, and supply chain.
Ideally find something that lets me use my project management and industry experience, rather than just being a junior dev.
