Honestly blown away by all the comments being upset that a service with real costs is charging money to cover those costs. And the weak as shit excuses about why they won't pay money for this. It's like complaining that OnlyFans exists because pornhub is free.
It's $5/mo or $10/mo if you don't want to pay for it, there's the whole rest of the internet to get free web dev content from, not to mention the rest of MDN which they host and provide to you for free.
One of the depressing realities of software and the internet. It’s especially depressing that people that likely build and sell technology for a living think like this.
I’ve been thinking about donating to Mozilla for a while - even though I don’t use their browser, I think they’re an indispensable force of good on the internet -, but haven’t gotten around to it. This could prove like an excellent value proposition for me and if it’s any good they can count on my money.
I mean it's not like web development tutorials and blogs haven't filled the internet with free content for years to learn everything you could possibly want. freecodecamp will take you from nothing to hirable, for free.
Awesome write up! That was a very fun and educating read. Never thought about running ads on a porn site before.
You said you can't be sure if your download numbers were correlated to the ads, but did you notice a drop off in new downloads after you finished the campaigns (or too early to tell)?
And does your ad run on all mindgeek websites or do you pick which ones/categories they appear on? Perhaps if they give more granular tools and you know your audience you can target towards your demo a little better idk?
The thing with download numbers is there's a lag - unless people binge the show in two days (it happened before), they are probably going to listen to it episode by episode over a longer period, which makes downloads tricky to attribute to source.
You get the option to choose which sites you want the ads to appear on. I picked all that supported my preferred format (as mentioned in the article).
You can definitely target according to gender and sexual orientation, so you can play with the copy that way!
This kills all the satellites in our orbit as well? Satellites are already vulnerable to solar events and magnetic anomalies like SAA.
In additional to everything on Earth being wiped out would this would create a mini Kessler Syndrome since all satellites are now space junk which we will never be able to communicate with again?
Reading through the FAQ on staking it says you will get penalties for being offline and the network eats through 800mb/hour which comes out to around 576gb/month.
Is this practical to do at home? Or are pools the way to go for people on consumer home internet?
The penalties for being offline are equal to the rewards you would have earned. It is okay to be offline if you have minor outage for few hours or if you're moving and will be offline for a few days. You simply would need to go back online for the same amount of time to make your rewards back.
I am a solo staker. My machine churns through about 800 gb/month. I am a huge advocate for solo staking if you have the hardware and have technical ability. I work in finance not software engineering, and i was able to set a machine up with no issue.

If you have a gaming desktop and do a complete system wipe, you will be downloading several terabytes of data in backups and games.
Most AAA games these days are in 100GB range, and a steam library of my friends occupies a couple of TB. Also Dropbox / Onedrive give you 1TB of space, and is easy to fill it up with videos and photos.
A continous stream of 1.7 megabits, seems reasonable on both FTTC and FTTH, and maybe even on a xDSL. Definately more systainable than GPU mining
I checked a Jaguar dealer page now and I see they're still offering finance incentives which I didn't except since their inventory is taking such a hit. Plus luxury cars have been selling for over MSRP on most popular models for the last year.
Many finance incentives are usually restricted to current dealer inventory and previous model years. They also get people in the door, since often times, people don't truly qualify for the advertised rates (if we are talking about financing terms). Jaguar is still suffering from depressed sales (though it has been getting better), so they may feel the demand isn't there to get those vehicles off their lots and increasing prices/reducing financing incentives would potentially make that worse.
Of course, it might just be that they are slow to react and changes will be reflected in the coming weeks.
Jaguar is probably not considered on the same level of demand as say, BMW, Benz, Audi, or even Lexus. The fact that they were notorious for having problems probably doesn't help.
They make gorgeous cars though, with good handling and driver engagement. A V8 (or maybe electric!) F-Type is my attainable dream car.
It's better to raise the net price by raising the price and then offer incentives from a sales perspective than to leave the price alone and remove incentives. People feel good when they get "discounts" or "deals".
