S&P 500 up 3x in 5Y so back to same level isn’t great

I guess stock price is a reflection of crap management which in return leads to these behaviours. Maybe I should check the stock price first before deciding on a product.

The proper thing to do is to either reject due to safety requirements or do it with no difference.

In theory, yes

I got an email from a client about a meeting at 2PM on Gmail. Their AI automatically added an 2AM slot to my calendar and it cannot even be removed

Going on a tangent from a tangent, I think that the 2*12h clock is a horrible idea that should have been rejected from the start, and the Product Manager who proposed it 3 thousand years ago should have been immediately put into the dungeons and fed only once a day at 12PM. Anyway, now we know better and there's no good excuse not to use a 24h clock as the default across all systems.

As usual the problem is Americans. We won't learn metric and refuse to use the 24 hour clock. It removes ambiguity and solves so many issues but since it would require people to stop and think what 1600 means for the first few months it will never happen here.

Many tourists from Hong Kong/China/Taiwan were kidnapped from Thailand to work in scam centres in Cambodia, to the point it gave Thailand a bad name and affected their tourism income

Eventually you can only solve this by arresting the criminals

How about stopping the scam centres in Cambodia altogether

Sounds horribly ineffective compared to money laundering methods already used by criminals

Yeah, I wouldn’t dismiss this possibility based on this fact alone though.

I thought facebookmail.com was fake. No, it is actually legit

Is that for user email? I think that is semi-understandable as Facebook wouldn't want to mix their authority with that of the users, like github.com vs github.io.

Edit: nvm it seems it's not the case

I once digged through the 5000 page specification. There was a lot of useless stuff that only old Microsoft Word supported like WordArt items.

Does office no longer support word art?

When i was a kid, making cool wordart headers for school projects was like 50% of what we used office for.

How else would terminally uncool church youth groups advertise in their local church?

It might be a Swedish thing, but I always laugh when I see them. Not nearly as common today as ten years ago, but I see them a couple of times a year.

I guess paying high rates for more usage is too sensible. Here in UK we even have daily standing charges

Commercial power nearly always pays a monthly charge based on the peak deliverable power.

However, the utility rates are regulated, and the regulators allow the power companies to charge customers more to recoup any capital expenditures. Presumably when demand increases, the utilities increase capex to meet the demand.

The utility rates are regulated by people who, in most states, are in the pocket of the utility companies.

The public utility commissions of the US are remarkably corrupt.
